Nepalese Contractors who are relatively established today started their profession with their own effort without any help, guidance or training. Their effort of uniting themselves in a representative organization began more than two decades ago. It was very difficult to establish such association during the partyless political system (1960-1990).

With the great enthusiasm of all the Contractors Associations of Nepal to be united under a single forum, name and structure of this association was changed, as an umbrella organization of all Nepalese contractors, to Federation of Contractors' Associations of Nepal (FCAN)in 1997.
